The latest vintage of this most versatile, and food-friendly 100% Tempranillo from the Pierce Ranch Vineyard, which specializes in growing Iberian (Spanish and Portuguese) varieties, is aged for 29 months in neutral French Oak and another 6 months in bottle to tame its tremendous tannins. Starting off with a gorgeous garnet crimson hue; floral aromas of violets and roses, combined with blackberries, clove, pine nuts, seared meat and pepper; leading to cassis, currant, plum, dried cherry, mushroom and hints of tobacco in the mouth; and a long lingering and gripping finish with hints of spice and vanilla. Pairs with pork chops, pheasant, wood-fired pizza, gorgonzola salad, and seared pepper-garlic ahi.
