100% Cabernet Franc. These DeRose-clone grapes hail from the biodynamically-farmed Martian Ranch Vineyard and spent 28 months aging in neutral French oak barrels. A deep garnet emanating from a Hawaiian sunset in the glass, grilled cherry, fig, white pepper, star anise, and herbs on the nose, with notes of smoky bacon, cinnamon, and dark cherry truffle dusted with cocoa powder, and just a hint of that herbaceous funk that Cab Franc (Frunk?) is famous for, featuring a smooth creamy finish with velvety tannins that linger like a long hug. Pair with roasted lamb, lasagna, rib eye, blue cheese crumbles and aged cheddar.
