The 2017 Merlot is produced from fruit grown exclusively at 868 Estate Vineyards. This intense, well balanced wine will complement poultry dishes, roasted root vegetables and flavorful cheeses such as cheddar and Gouda. With extended bottle ageing in our cellar, the Merlot is ready to drink now but will continue to develop elegantly for another three years.
Tasting Notes
The 2017 Merlot has a bright pale ruby color with garnet margins. This hand-crafted wine displays powerful aromas of currant, raspberry and cedar with hints of toast and soy sauce. On the palate, oak and fruit flavors dominate with elements of blackberry pipe tobacco blended with notes of smoke and black tea. With a firm tannin structure, the Merlot lingers with hints of white pepper, spice and olive.
