This imaginative, full bodied red blend delights the senses with the smells of smoke, raspberry, and eucalyptus. The slightly sweet taste of dried fruit is the first of many layers of flavors you will taste. Currant (dried raisin), vanilla, molasses, and a hint of asparagus and roses help define its many flavors while the medium tannins provide the backbone of this wine.
This irresponsible blending of flavors would pair nicely with a big steak, while its chalky tannin structure would allow it to also go well with pork, lamb or even chicken at the beach, on the boat, or that backyard BBQ. It is also a wonderful choice to drink by itself, when only a big, well-structured red wine will do.
The wine is a celebration of the combination of Lindsay Creek’s award winning Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged in 75% new French Oak and 25% 2nd and 3rd year oak, it was then cellared an extra 6 months to allow the flavors to develop and mature more. After bottling the Merlot and Cabernet individually, we combined the balance of these two wines into this whimsical red blend.
