We have had numerous requests for this varietal since our first bottling sold out. We are pleased to bring Tempranillo back to our lineup with a new wine produced from a vineyard in the Santa Cruz Mountains. The cool climate and the soils of the region result in a wine with structure and acidity but that is enjoyable upon release. We aged the wine in quality American oak barrels and bottled it unfined and unfiltered. Our Tempranillo has hints of leather and vanilla in the aroma and delicious fruit flavors of plum and blackberry. Try it with ham, manchego cheese or grilled lamb chops.

Planted in 2008, Escolle is located in the Northern part of the AVA on a hillside overlooking the Salinas Valley. The vineyard features a cool climate due to the breeze and fog from nearby Monterey Bay that make it an excellent place to grow Chardonnay. This wine was fermented and aged in French oak barrels then bottled without fining or filtration. It is a rich, full-bodied Chardonnay with an excellent balance of fruit and acidity. In the aroma are hints of oak and tropical fruits and in the taste flavors of citrus and melon. Serve lightly chilled and enjoy it over the next several years.

The Antle Vineyard sits at 1800 feet of elevation in the Chalone AVA near Pinnacles National Park in the southern section of the Gabilan Mountains. The rocky soils, heavily laden with limestone, of this unique site produce aromatic white wines of unusual depth and complexity. The 25 acre Antle Vineyard was planted in 1989 by legendary winegrower Dick Graff and was farmed organically during this vintage. It is one of the few places in California where authentic Pinot Blanc is grown. Ours is light gold in color and has aromas of pear and honey with a subtle oak background. The taste is rich and full with flavors of white peach, apple, hints of citrus, and minerality. The wine has a superb balance of fruit and acidity. This is an outstanding example of Pinot Blanc at its finest.

Lime Kiln Valley is a small viticultural are located in the South of San Benito County. The area features soils of decomposed granite and limestone, with warm days and cool nights that lead to a long growing season producing balanced wines with great depth. We think that Sam’s great grandparents produced wine from grapes grown here more than a century ago so we are pleased to offer this Zinfandel. Aged in American oak and bottled without fining or filtration, the wine is full-bodied with rich berry flavors and a smooth finish. Enjoy it with barbecue, grilled meats or pasta.

This wine was fermented in 1.5 ton lots and with daily punch-downs by hand, then aged in French oak barrels and bottled without fining or filtration. It is a Pinot Noir that is generous with fruit and flavors of strawberries. The wine finishes with a hint of oak and will pair well with grilled pork or filet mignon.

It is made from 100% Pinot Noir, punched down by hand during fermentation and aged in quality French oak barrels, then bottled unfined and unfiltered. Enjoyable upon release, the flavors and aromas in this Pinot Noir will continue to meld over several years and subtle complexities will emerge.

The 2014 Rexford Merlot was made from grapes grown in the Regan Vineyards located on a hillside near Watsonville. This site yields very dark and often intense Merlot that shows similarity to the wines of Bordeaux. Bottled without fining or filtration, the wine has complex aromas of earth and spice that are true to the varietal. The taste is driven by fruity flavors that are well balanced by tannin and acidity. This excellent Merlot is ready to drink now, but will continue to develop with further bottle age.

The high elevation and limestone soil of this Chalone site are excellent for growing top quality Pinot Noir that makes a wine with a balance of aromas and flavors that are unique in California. Our 2016 was made entirely from the Pommard clone, aged in French oak barrels, and bottled without fining or filtering. In the aroma are hints of violets and sweet woody tones, and the taste is full of cherries and plums with a distinct spiciness. The wine is medium-full bodied with expressive fruit and well-integrated tannins. It is drinking well now but will further improve with age because of its fine balance and structure. This is our final Chalone Pinot Noir so fans should stock up on it. Suggested pairings: roasted chicken or duck, lamb, or seared tuna.
