Flavors of green apple, snow pea tendril, Bosc pear and wet slate come to the fore. Complemented with subtle texture (lees contact) this wine has incredible persistence and balance. This wine is perfect to serve as an aperitif, with dinner or after with a selection of your favorite cheeses. The majority of the wine was fermented and matured in stainless steel while 9% was fermented and matured on lees in neutral oak barriques for three months. All lots were battonaged.
We're committed to creating handcrafted wines using only the highest quality grapes so that we can make wines that are indicative of the place where they are grown. We strive to make wines naturally, to make wines that have individual characteristics and to make wines with personality. The scale of production is kept at a level where we can touch and know the wine as it is raised to the bottle—the antithesis of mass production. The standards of quality are measured by our criteria—not by external sources. We make wines we personally enjoy—some to drink young, all for the table, and others for long aging in cool cellars for our children to enjoy.
The 2012 growing season at our Chalice Vineyard in the foothills of the Oregon Coastal Range started out with a late spring frost that damaged some new buds reducing yields for the vintage. The remainder of the growing season was virtually idyllic in every way. The summer days were very warm and dry with the nights cooled by Pacific breezes. Warm dry conditions continued throughout the fall and the grapes were harvested in perfect condition with ideal sugar levels and a perfect acid balance.

Straw color with green reflections, lovely aromas of green orchard fruit, jasmine, honeysuckle and hints of nutmeg and cloves. The palate is medium body with creamy texture and lively acidity. Flavors of green pineapple, apple with hints of mild ginger and oak spice merges in a smooth finish.
Stuhlmuller Vineyard Estate was established over 30 years ago and is nestled in a unique river bench and hillside location on the southwestern edge of the Alexander Valley, where three of Northern Sonoma County's top appellations come together. There, virtually a stone's throw from Chalk Hill and the Russian River Valley, the vineyard's ancient soils and perfect microclimate provide the ideal environment for growing exceptional Chardonnay.
This custom blend is comprised of four single vineyard components (40% Syrah, 35% Petit Syrah, 15% Sangiovese, 10% Malbec), each varietal representing a distinct climate in Sonoma Wine Country. Each lot was fermented and aged separately in sixty gallon French oak barrels for 20 months. Minimal intervention and modest handling of the wine allow for a very true representation of our native Sonoma soils. The result is a wine with great depth and character, full-bodied and rich in the mid palate with a lusciously soft, round finish.
Founded in 2003, Highway 12 was inspired by the vision and pioneering spirit of so many who went before them. Co-founders Michael Sebastiani and Paul Giusto have spent over two decades making wines from vineyards along Sonoma's historic Highway 12. Their commitment to timeless values and tradition are the foundation for their winemaking program and their quality is confirmed by the many medals and critical recognition their wines receive.
