Barrel fermented and aged sur lie for 10 months in 50% new French oak and 50% in 20-year-old French oak. Barrels were stirred every two weeks during aging. Full malolactic fermentation. Bottled in August 2021. Our Chardonnay vines were planted in 1984 on shallow, shale-heavy soil uphill from the winery. The vineyard is farmed using biointensive practices, a form of organic, regenerative farming that uses chemical disease control as a last resort. In 2020, the vineyard inputs were 95% organic. Aromas of melon, lemon peel, and mandarin orange with flavors of sweet vanilla, toasted coconut, and lemon curd. Full body with a broad and creamy texture, and a long toasty finish. Drink now or cellar 5-8 years.
