Of our Bordeaux red wines, this wine is the prettiest, partly due to using only neutral oak (no new). Intense red fruit, vanilla, and bramble on nose with soft, silky tannins and black cherry on the palate. Classic creamy Merlot texture with a lingering finish of raspberry. Excellent alone but great with pork tenderloin with a cherry glace or roasted sweet potatoes.
Knapp Winery is located on the west side of Cayuga Lake in the Finger Lakes. It is nestled in a valley less than a mile from the shore. Estate grown vinifera such as Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Riesling, Lemberger, comprise much of the farm land that slope to the lake.
