In 1993, our Late Harvest Vignoles won the coveted Governor's Cup. Estate grown, we now produce our Vignoles in a dry style. It still has a touch of sweetness to complement the viscosity, spice, and nuttiness that make Vignoles an intriguing wine. Enwrapping that spice is compelling notes of apricot, honeycomb, and passionfruit with an extended finish. First named Ravat 51, Vignoles was first developed by French grape breeder J.F. Ravat in 1930. For a long time, it was believed the parents of Vignoles were Siebel 6905 and Pinot de Corton, but genetic testing in 2008 proved that to be false. As of now, the parentage is still unknown. Well suited for this region, the Finger Lakes Wine Growers renamed it Vignoles. Dear to our hearts at Knapp for both its history in the Finger Lakes and its important presence at Knapp, it was the chosen grape for out 35th Anniversary limited release wine.

Knapp Winery is located on the west side of Cayuga Lake in the Finger Lakes. It is nestled in a valley less than a mile from the shore. Estate grown vinifera such as Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Riesling, Lemberger, comprise much of the farm land that slope to the lake.
