Haskap is the Japanese name for an edible honeysuckle fruit, sometimes called Honeyberry. Common in Japan and Russia, this fruit is relatively new to the US and looks like a stretched out blueberry with beautiful yellow blossoms.
Tasting: the approach is reminiscent of blueberry; midpalate brings nuances of raspberry turning to strawberry; then a hint of cranberry right at the finish. This is one of the most indescribable flavors we've tasted.
Tongue River Winery was the first and only US Winery to release a haskap wine in 2012 and 2013.
