Chambourcin is a hybrid grape that was cross-bred over a century ago to grow better in the more volatile climate of the New World. It grows wonderfully in Virginia and every winery does their Chambourcin differently. We treat ours with the respect this versatile grape deserves, and it rewards us year after year with flavors of cherry, plum and smoke from the toasted French oak. Our Chambourcin is labelled "Culpeper Heritage" and features Civil War-era photographs from around Culpeper. We recommend decanting for two hours before serving to let the wine breath, soften and to better unlock all of its secrets.
