Montelle Winery is rich in history. The winery has played an important role in the remarkable rebirth of Missouri wine making and in particular, the Augusta Wine District. The Augusta region was nationally known for its wine during the 19th century, but Prohibition halted the state's wine making for decades.
In the late 1960’s and early 1970’s, a few pioneering souls began to refurbish the old vineyards and winery buildings of Missouri's premier wine-growing regions. One of these pioneers was Clayton Byers, who founded Montelle Vineyards in 1970. Montelle Winery is a combination of Montelle Vineyards and Osage Ridge Winery founded in 1984.
Visit award winning Montelle Winery and enjoy the spectacular view and beautifully landscaped brick terrace. Special events, corporate meetings, and holiday parties can be planned just for you in the Parliament Room. Free, live music is performed on the terrace most weekends from April through October. In the winter, the Parliament Room features a fireplace and cozy indoor seating.
Klondike Cafe, Montelle’s own on-site deli, features freshly prepared gourmet sandwiches with fresh bread baked in their own ovens along with handmade pizzas and other menu items.
In the months of May through September extended hours are offered on Saturdays to accommodate the many weekend visitors. Pizzas, as well as specials, are available Saturday evenings May to September.
Montelle is located 1 ½ miles east of Augusta, Missouri, on Hwy. 94 (15 miles southwest of U.S. 40).
