This wine is a 2023 Ohio Wine Competition GOLD MEDAL Winner! Our smooth, fruit-forward and slightly sweet Blackberry Merlot honors the Buckeye and tastes fantastic when paired with the chocolate and peanut butter Buckeye candies that Ohio is famous for.
In 1953, the Ohio legislature designated the Ohio Buckeye as the Ohio official state tree. The tree is called the buckeye because its nuts resemble the shape and color of a deer eye. If you carry a buckeye in your pocket, it will bring you good luck just like a horseshoe or a four-leaf clover. Ohio is commonly referred to as The Buckeye State due to the prevalence of Ohio Buckeye trees within the state borders. When The Ohio State University Buckeyes and mascot Brutus Buckeye take the field, if you shout out O-H and you will undoubtedly hear an I-O in return!
